Despite the publicized allegiances of the ousted Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno to the Catholic Church, Francis Abraham, a born-again Christian, brings poetic justice to his fellow born-again Chief Justice.

To everyone’s surprise, Abraham revealed that Solicitor General Attorney Jose Calida, the one who filed the Quo Warranto petition against the Chief Justice is also a fellow Christian of Sereno. Being of the same religion, Abraham saw this as a kind act of God where Sereno was luckily persecuted through the hands of her associate justices led by the request of her fellow Christian.

Abraham relayed his joy on her ousting for Sereno was saved by Jesus Christ. He believes that despite all the controversy that the ousted Chief Justice created through rebuking the Supreme Court itself and the administration of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, “that God had good plans for all of us who believe in him, you included. I do wish you blessings and grace too!”

He then said that despite Sereno’s publicity of her anti-government and anti-Supreme Court sentiments, which even Stephen Sackur pointed out to be something that no Chief Justice of both the United States and Europe would do, it is all water under the bridge and the only thing that she can do about it is to submit for the greater good like how the late Chief Justice Renato Corona did.

Abraham also cited the bible verse from Romans 13:1-7 as a reminder to Sereno that,

“Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you. For he is God's servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing. He is God's servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also because of conscience."

With that Sereno’s fellow Christian believer pointed out that even their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ submitted and by doing so was nailed to the cross, but this was all God’s plan from the start.

“Dear Former Chief Justice Sereno,

We are both full bible Christians and I am indeed happy that you have been saved as we both believe in Jesus Christ as our ONLY Lord and Saviour, and have accepted Him into our lives. Being a true christian, you must also believe in the bible as the only source of authority (Sola Scriptura) and as the book itself says, "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness," (2 Timothy 3:16").

I saw you deliver your speech yesterday after the Supreme Court ruled on your motion for reconsideration and upheld, with finality, Atty Jose Calida's Quo Warranto petition against you. (Joe Calida, also happens to be a born again Christian). I must say that the speech, which appeared to have been prepared even before the SC decision, is a scathing attack on the Supreme Court itself, the very institution whose judicial independence you have consistently claimed to protect. Why so? Is it because they have decided against you? I suggest that you must accept the decision of the SC, in the same way Corona accepted the decision of congress; with humility and grace.

You have also openly attacked, as you did yesterday, the current administration on various issues. Sackur was right when he said that you were sounding more like a politician and a staunch critic of the president than a Supreme Court Justice. Furthermore, Sakur pointed out, no supreme court justice in Europe or the US would issue the kind of press statements the way you did.

But then again, those words have been uttered, and we can't do anything about it. Let's talk about the future as a "Servant Leader", the way you model yourself to be in the image of our Lord Jesus Christ. You did describe yourself as such.

While it is quite unfortunate that you have been removed by your fellow supreme court judges via the quo warranto, I sincerely also believe that God had good plans for all of us who believe in him, you included. I do wish you blessings and grace too!

To guide you in your future endeavors, and also as a way of rebuke and teaching, I am leaving you with this passage from the bible, the word of God that we both cherish. This is for ALL other Christians as well. It was written for the Christians in Rome by Paul. While it is addressed to them, it is most meaningful to us Filipino christians today. It leaves little or no room for interpretation, and needs no collegial body or dean, or pastor, priest or pope to do so.

Romans 13:1-7, “Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established.

Even Christ submitted and was nailed to the cross.

Your fellow believer,

Francis”
