Facebook has been an outlet for one’s self since it’s founding. It has been highly debated since the boundaries between freedom of speech and fake news has ever been so thin. Yet when it comes to cyber libel or maybe the simple ruining and degrading of a person on the social media platform, even the chief director of the police is not safe from it and can do nothing about it but be respectable.

“We have already identified these policemen and already gave a directive that they report to me on Monday,” stated the Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Oscar Abayalde who is about to confront policemen he identified on the Facebook page Buhay Lespu to criticized him.

It was the PNP chief Director General vigilance and strict discipline which made him a target to these criticisms for he is known to conduct late night inspections of police stations which ends up with him catching a quite a few officers that are either forgivably sleeping or despicably drinking on-the-job.

Being the better man, Abayalde chose to keep the identity of these PNP officers within anonymity, the number of them too, shrouded instead of having them humiliated through publicity. Yet all the bashing officers will all be condemned with administrative charges and the high probability of dismissal due to their acts of insubordination will teach them a proper lesson.

Apparently criticisms from these to-be dismissed officers started back when he was seated as the chief of the National Capital Region Police Office, yet the man knows how to lead and there is no room for disrespect that can ignite mutiny in his office. Abayalde stated,

“We don’t want people with these kinds of attitude in our ranks.”

It seems that the sense of security due to the anonymity and the lost channels of communication that social media provides is not a reason to thoughtlessly commit to acts of disrespect and degradation towards another. This apparently is the standing of the PNP chief Director General when he stated that,

“They can always express themselves but it must be in a proper manner.”
