MANILA - The House of Representatives committee on good government showed journalists on Monday the detention rooms it prepared for Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos  in connection with the alleged misuse of tobacco excise funds taxes.

If anyone can remember, house summons Imee Marcos to attend Ilocos Norte excise tax funds. A subpoena has been serves by the committee last May 30, Marcos has repeatedly said she will skip the hearing, due to family reasons.

House officials have repeatedly warned Marcos that disobeying a subpoena merits detention by the House.

This, after members of the committee warned Marcos she faces possible detention if she snubs a congressional inquiry on the issue.

Committee chairperson Johnny Pimentel took reporters to the 3rd floor of the Batasan Pambansa Plenary Hall Building where an extension office of the sergeant-at -arms awaits Marcos.

One would have to pass through 2 checkpoints, a receiving room and a bedroom to reach the office equipped with its own toilet and bath.

Marcos will be free to bring her own bed there.

She will also be allowed to accept visitors, and keep access to gadgets and the Internet so she can carry on with her government duties.

The committee issued a subpoena against Marcos last week after she snubbed 2 hearings.

With the photos shown, it seems like a normal condo unit for simple citizen of Metro Manila. However, compared to a luxurious life Imee Marcos have been, the detention rooms could definitely be a place with difficulty on what she have used to be in.

The question is, will she attend the July 25 hearing of the Committee on Good Government on provincial excise tax funds.

Will CHR intervene in this issue? We want to hear your comments on these.
