His popularity has evidently reached the whole world as President Rodrigo Duterte claimed the top spot in TIME magazine’s 100 most influential people poll for 2017.

The feisty Philippine president received 5 percent of “yes” votes in the online poll that started in the last week of March and closed on Monday (Manila time). He was consistently leading the survey.

People believed that Rodrigo is a leader that put his words into action and Federalism can give Filipinos a better way of life. They also believe that this new government can provide a better education and better health care for the Filipinos. Duterte is among the longest-serving mayors in the Philippines and has been Mayor of Davao City, a highly urbanized city on Mindanao island, for seven terms, totalling more than 22 years.

Duterte, who launched the bloody war against illegal drugs since claiming the presidency in July, got ahead of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Pope Francis, richest man in the world Bill Gates and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg in the survey. The four all got 3 percent of "yes" votes.
US Sen. Bernie Sanders and Russian President Vladimir Putin won the reader poll in 2016 and 2015, respectively.

The TIME 100 annual list of the most influential people in the world—features a number of leading artists, politicians, lawmakers, scientists and leaders of tech and business. Although TIME's editors will choose the final list of honorees, TIME want readers to share their choices with us as well.

In an online survey, TIME Magazine asked its readers to choose who should be included in its annual list of the world's most influential people.

Duterte received five percent of the total "yes" votes in the poll that closed on Sunday night.
Duterte was followed by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Pope Francis, Bill Gates, and Mark Zuckerberg, who each received three percent of the total "yes" votes.

TIME listed 114 personalities it considers worthy to be on "TIME 100." After each vote readers are automatically shown the percentage of votes for "yes" or "no."

Duterte has been drawing international attention for the alleged extrajudicial killings in the drug war.
The official TIME 100 selected by its editors — the list of 100 most influential people — will be announced on April 20.

Once again, the Filipinos  have showed their camaraderie and love to their President. In spite of the allegations, many still believe in him.
