Robredo hopes that "Hatred won't get in the way of more important things"

Reported by: Rose-An Jessica Dioquino, GMA News

Vice President Leni Robredo on Thursday said she hopes hatred “will not get in the way of more important things,” as she stands to face possible impeachment raps from her critics.

“Hindi naman natin mape-prevent ang mga tao na mag-file kung anong gusto nilang i-file,” Robredo said

“Pero ang sa akin lang, sana ‘yung hatred, ‘yung hatred hindi siya… will not get in the way of the more important things. Parang ngayon kasi ‘yun ang nangyayari,” she added.

Robredo made the comment just as a group of lawyers were holding a press conference, announcing that they are building up an impeachment complaint against her.

The lawyers, vocal critics of the Vice President on social media, are considering several grounds for this complaint, among them her statement of assets, liabilities, and net worth (SALN).

The group, called "Impeach Leni Team," said they are currently building up their case against the Vice President, notably over her controversial recorded speech, played at a side session organized in line with the UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs annual meeting last week.

"Leni Robredo has gone too far. The means in which she has conducted herself since assuming office has been inimical to the public interest, ruinous and prejudicial to the economy, eroded confidence in the legal system and government, and places the honor and dignity of the Filipino to naught," they said.

The group includes lawyer Bruce Rivera, who used to represent Janet Lim-Napoles; political science professor Antonio Contreras, Atty. Tom Berenguer, Atty. Ahmed Paglinawan, and Trixie Cruz-Angeles.

The group members said they are in talks with congressmen who may endorse the said complaint at the House of Representatives.

Asked about this, Robredo said her SALN “is a public record.”

Also on Thursday, Robredo said the planned impeachment complaint against her and the filed complaint against President Rodrigo Duterte seemed to be a ‘distraction’ from the work the government needs to do.

“Tingin ko ‘yung impeachment—whether against the President or against sa akin—hihintuin nito ‘yung mga dapat pinag-uukulan ng pansin ng Kongreso,” Robredo said. “Masyadong maraming trabahong kailangan atupagin. Magiging very divisive para sa bansa natin. Tingin ko hindi siya makakabuti in the long run.”

The group announced its plan hours after President Rodrigo Duterte defended Robredo and told those behind impeachment moves to "stop it."

"Look. We just had an election. Guys, lay off. Stop it. You can do other things, but do not tinker with the structure of government. I will not countenance it. Elected iyong tao eh," he said in a press briefing at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport after arriving from his trips in Myanmar and Thailand.

"So, why do you have to? Just because she keeps harping on me? Hayaan mo. This is a democracy. It's freedom of speech. Wala naman—there are no overt acts," he added.

But House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez maintained that despite the President’s call, his plan to file an impeachment complaint may still push through.

What can you say about this report? Who are we to judge our Vice President?

Yes, she has a point. However, People will never change what we have believed in. Did she already done something good for our country? Does she have any projects that has been announce to public? I can't remember anything.

In my own opinion people are not mad on who she was, even doesn't care on what she have. Rather we are mad because it seems that she's doing nothing. We only want what's best for our country. - OurDailyRevelationsPH
